There is some confusion amongst UK householders as to what digital TV is all about, so I thought I would post to try and help clear things up somewhat;

Basically, digital TV is a system of broadcasting a TV signal over the rdio waves in a digital format, which is said to give an improved image, clearer sound and no ‘fuzzyness’ - so gone are the days of ‘TV snow’.

By 2012, the government plans to have everyone in the UK switched over to digital TV, and plans are afoot to switch the old analogue signal off completely, so you would be advised to pay attention!

Don’t panic though, there are lots of benefits to digital TV;

* Increase number of channels
* Digital Radio usually built in
* Interactive options (polls, competitions and games etc)
* TV guides available on screen
* Accessibility options, for those with disabilities, such as hearing or sight problems.

Is There Just One Option for Digital TV?

Nope, like most things these days, there are lots of choices out there for the consumer.

Digital TV can be either in the form of a built in DTV reciever in your TV, via a Freeview box connected to your TV, via Cable TV or via a satellite TV system.

There are also various companies out there that offer subscription based TV packages, such as Virgin TV

To make things clearer still, consider visiting a comparison site, such as: digitalchoices.co.uk, where you will be able to get lots more great advice, and also compare Digital TV packages from various providers.
